The Saturday program at the Hyperreality Festival was a diverse showcase of innovative electronic music and performance art, designed to enthrall and captivate. Starting at 9 p.m., Saint Precious kicked off the evening in the Cooking section with an electrifying live performance. This was followed by equally mesmerizing sets from Honour, Chuquimamani-Condori, and Aïsha Devi, each artist bringing their unique styles and energy to the stage. The stage was strategically placed in a large hall within the new venue at Otto Wagner Areal in the 14th district.
Surrounded by trees and situated in the former kitchen area of the complex, it was as if the artists were symbolically cooking and serving their art for us. Saint Precious, a multifaceted Swedish-Barbadian artist, began her career as a singer and songwriter at the tender age of 17. Known for her hit song “Sanctum,” Precious had the crowd swinging their hips throughout her gig, lost in the rhythm and wishing the night would never end. Aïsha Devi, another highlight of the evening, captivated us with her live performance. Her elaborate costume and the intense frequency of her singing brought the atmosphere to a boiling point, leaving the audience in awe.
Between performances, we took brief breaks in the garden area of the festival, where the cool night air provided a refreshing contrast to the energetic heat inside. Meeting friends, exchanging hugs, and sharing the experience added to the evening’s joy. As the night deepened, the DJ sets more and more took over the night, featuring AXT, Goth Jafar, and Mursal, who kept the energy levels high into the early hours of the morning.
Simultaneously, in the Serving section, live acts by Ora Et Labora, Container, and Infinity Division provided a compelling alternative, with dynamic DJ sets from Ebhardy and Tygapaw further enhancing the experience. Tygapaw’s performance marked a peak in the evening for us as we danced to the great-quality music.
The lineup for the night emphasized the festival’s commitment to avant-garde artistry and immersive experiences, making it a memorable night for all of us. Hyperreality 2024 again this year questioned our expectations, leaving us eagerly anticipating what the next year would bring. The festival’s blend of music, art, and the unique setting created an atmosphere of pure magic, and we are already looking forward to next year!
