Creative Days Vienna 2025

The international creative industry will meet for the sixth time in Vienna to discuss the latest developments at the intersection of technology, culture and the creative industries. Topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and new digital technologies on artistic creation will be on the agenda, as well as the significance of the analog context and the need for cooperation.

The renowned US cultural theorist and artist Claire L. Evans, member of the Grammy-nominated dance-pop duo YACHT, and British curator Sean Bidder, Creative Director of London’s 180 Studios and Vinyl Factory, will open the two-day event. The event will feature an exhibition and performance program, workshops, and networking formats that promise new impulses. A central meeting point for the Creative Days is the former ORF broadcasting centre, called Funkhaus. It is currently being used temporarily by the Never at Home initiative, which is also a partner of the festival. As part of the Creative Days, the artists open their doors for an exclusive tour of the studios in the Funkhaus.

From music and fashion to media art and film.
What role will digital technologies play in the cultural experiences of tomorrow? This central question is the focus of the Creative Days Vienna, which will take place on 14 and 15 May 2025 as part of the ViennaUP start-up festival. Experts from the fields of AI technology, gaming, design, music, fashion, film, architecture and visual arts will discuss the interactions between technological innovations, social change and the creative industries.

The Creative Days 2025 will kick off with Sean Bidder and Claire L. Evans. Bidder, a curator and creative director from London, will share insights into contemporary art, music, and multimedia experiences during his keynote. The American writer, musician, and futurist Claire L. Evans will present her lecture on what life sciences and computer technology can learn from ant colonies and slime molds.

Tours of creatively utilised spaces, interactive workshops and exclusive insights.
On the first day, a tour will take participants to the art incubator Creative Cluster, the multimedia studio Palais Rössl, and the temporary use project Never At Home at former ORF radio building. The Funkhaus is one of the main venues for Creative Days Vienna this year.

In workshops, participants will focus on augmented reality, the interface between fashion and technology and the use of AI in games. A special highlight of Creative Days Vienna is the exhibition programme at the Funkhaus, featuring MY BODY IS A TEMPLE and the interactive installations Kissaten Vienna by digital artist and architect Rebecca Merlic and V-REAL by the artistic research collective SOAP (Bettina Katja Lange, Uwe Sebastian Brunner).

At the Austrian Film Museum, also a partner of this year’s Creative Days Vienna, Michael Loebenstein (Director of the Austrian Film Museum), Eva Jäger (Curator of Art and Technology at the Serpentine in London) and the artists Claudia Larcher and Ursula Winterauer will discuss the connection between film, art and artificial intelligence.

Networking sessions and the opening at The Hoxton Vienna are further highlights of the event and offer numerous opportunities for exchange and networking within the creative industry.
