In Shape and condition, Park Chunhwa breaks away her conventional figurative method of expression and uses a new style of painting, such as deconstructing and breaking up the landscape of lotus garden in the House of Lee Ungnoe to reveal her inner world and communicate with the people more directly than before.

In Archive for Arrangement, Kim Youngjin simplifies the forms of ritual objects on altars where religious ceremonies are performed to explore the meaning and symbolism of their arrangement. The artist’s hand-drawn and painted drawings and objects reflect her artistic world, which rejects mechanical perfection and constantly struggles to express the perfect human touch.

In her previous works, Jin Kim has worked with motifs related to the land, such as Demeter and potato folktale, but in The earth with Green Stone, she seeks to confront the earth that inspired her to begin art in the first place. She explored various places in Hongseong in search of imaginary green stone, which is different from ordinary gray stones and lonely but comforting to the people. she documented her journey in various ways, while actively sharing with the people her warm view of the world.

Through Appendix, Kaja Clara Joo explores the changes and cycles of nature and the question of the existence of things. She seeks to expand the meaning of objects, as abandoned bridge structures, rusted and broken fences, and wilted lotus leaves, whose usefulness has been defined by humans, are reborn as works of art by the artist’s hands. At the same time, these objects represent the changes and cycles of nature over time that the artist encountered when she came to Hongseong.

The time and space experienced in Hongseong, during the residency are engraved in the work as superimposed memories. The memories of those moments become the subjects of the landscapes, the lines and shapes close to perfection, the objects found on the earth, or the earth itself. Through this exhibition, people could come face-to-face with the meaning and value of the works.
