24 – 27 September viennacontemporary

viennacontemporary will take place from 24 - 27 September 2020 at Marx Halle, Vienna. This year's fair will again feature curated sections. Curator Cathrin Mayer, based in Berlin and Vienna, will present eight young positions with connections to the Austrian art scene in ZONE1.

The section VIDEO, curated by Jen Kratochvil from Prague, will present a versatile selection of video works. Additional to the film program Where Do We Find Ourselves. with contributions by artists of participating galleries, works by Anetta Mona Chisa (RO), Liam Gillick (UK), Agnieszka Polska (PL) and Ursula Mayer (AT) will be shown. For the second time, the section Explorations will include different galleries from Europe with pointed presentations of artistic positions from the 60s and 70s. The show is curated by Elisa R. Linn and Lennart Wolff and will feature works by Diet Sayler (RO, GER), Tomás Konok (PL), André Verlon (AT) and Vera Molnár (HU, FR). This year’s TALK program titled Central and Eastern European Art: Beyond Social Utopia is curated by Jelena Petrović and will be focused on questions of producing, exhibiting, and situating contemporary art, geopolitical zones of discomfort and belonging. A series of ArtTech Talks, curated by Francesca Gavin, will feature panel discussions on the intersection of technology and creative culture, digital curating, gameplay, and technology apart from and beyond the screen. A focal point of the panels will be technology’s influence on the way we perceive art and its sites.
